The Softphone can run in two different operating modes:

1) Softphone client mode:

The Softphone has its own User interface, similar to a standard IP Office telephone for making calls, transferring calls, multiple call appearances or making conference calls. A programmable feature button list enables one-touch access to standard IP Office features. This is the preferable operation mode for those looking to smoothly migrate from their desktop phone, or those who use Softphone only on an occasional basis and like a phone-centric user-interface, with optional dial pad and standard phone feature keys. The flexible user interface allows customizable adjustments for personal preferences, with detachable specific windows such as the directory and call log window.

The Softphone can also be configured so it is minimized to the system tray when not being used, to smaller or larger configurations in order to save desk space.

2) Softphone Application mode:

The Softphone runs in the background and standard call control is achieved using productivity applications (e.g. one-X Portal for IP Office).
